Younis Khan, the batting coach of the Pakistan Cricket Team says that the selectors are pressurized by social media. It is no wonder that how the cricket-loving nation having a different individual opinion, keeps on posting about their preferences and nonpreferences once the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reveals the official squad for any series/tour/match.
Not only the cricket fans but also the former cricketers, officials keep on posting justifying their point that why the PCB should have or should not have added a certain player. Younis believes this tactic pressurizes the selection team.
Why selectors are pressurized, reveals Younis Khan
“I have seen a lot of commentators, ex-cricketers talking about certain players on social media. Such things create pressure on the selectors,”
He says that what matters for him before finalizing the squad, is the domestic experience and stats. Younis further uttered that back in his time, there used to be a massive emphasis on domestic cricket.
“For me, domestic experience matters. If a player is selected for Tests, he should have enough experience of playing First-Class cricket. Players should be selected on the basis of how much domestic cricket they have played,”
Notably, his statement came after the team coiled up a four-match T20I series versus South Africa recently.
