Zalmi torture to boycott PSL; read why?

The PCB flouted its own rules. Wahab Riaz and Darren Sammy were sent in isolation three days after meeting and embracing the team owner outside the bubble.

However, a big drama was witnessed at a hotel in Karachi today when the Lahore Qalandars team sat on the bus for more than half an hour, and Peshawar Zalmi’s squad did not arrive.

According to sources, Peshawar Zalmi’s squad refused to go without captain Wahab Riaz and coach Darren Sammy and all attempts by PCB officials to persuade them failed. Wahab and Sammy were allowed to join the team despite not wanting to see the match in jeopardy.

The PCB said in a statement on Friday that it had approved the franchise’s appeal in the case of two people who broke the biosecurity bubble and allowed them to rejoin the squad, violating protocols outside the bio-bubble.

The PCB spokesperson further said that the team management has expressed regret over the violation and promised to be cautious in all respects in the future. The PSL management accepted the franchise’s appeal and re-squad the two.

The incident happened as PZ threatened to boycott PSL; hence, to keep working, the PCB, PSL allowed Wahab-Sammy in the stadium despite breaching the codes.

Notably, it goes against the cricket board’s laws and policies as a player is isolated after breaching COVID rules.
