Fans react to Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2024 jersey

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the official kit for the upcoming T20 World Cup, sparking mixed reactions among fans. The new jersey, dubbed the “Matrix Jersey,” was revealed by captain Babar Azam and senior players like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan.

While some fans praised the bold design, others expressed disappointment. Regardless of the divided opinions, the team will wear the new jersey as they embark on their World Cup journey.

Pakistan’s path to the coveted trophy begins with Group A, where they face India, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts United States. Before the main event, they head to Ireland for a T20I series, followed by four matches in England.

The initial 18-player squad will be trimmed to 15 after the first T20I against England on May 22. With the deadline for final squad submission set for May 1, minor adjustments can still be made until May 25.

The T20 World Cup format features four groups of five, with the top two teams progressing to the Super 8 stage. There, the teams will be divided into two groups of four, with the top two in each group battling it out in the semi-finals. The final is scheduled for June 29.

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup matches:

  • June 6: Pakistan vs USA, Dallas
  • June 9: Pakistan vs India, New York
  • June 11: Pakistan vs Canada, New York
  • June 16: Pakistan vs Ireland, Lauderhill

With the jersey unveiled and the countdown on, the excitement for Pakistan’s World Cup campaign is building. Can they overcome their group stage challenges and lift the trophy? Only time will tell.
