Ind vs Eng Test series: India win massive by 4-1

England’s hopes were dashed as they suffered a comprehensive defeat to India in the five-match Test series, ultimately losing 4-1. The series, held in India, saw England start on a promising note by winning the opening match. However, they failed to maintain momentum, facing defeat in the subsequent encounters.

In the final Test held at HPCA Stadium, England won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite Zak Crawley’s valiant effort with a score of 79, England could only muster a total of 218 runs before being bowled out. Kuldeep Yadav’s impressive performance with figures of 5/72, supported by Ravichandran Ashwin’s 4/51, proved instrumental in restricting England’s innings.

India responded emphatically, amassing a formidable total of 477 runs in their first innings. Contributions from Shubman Gill (110) and Rohit Sharma (103), along with half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Devdutt Padikkal, propelled India to a commanding position.

Facing a significant deficit, England faltered in their second innings, managing only 195 runs. Despite Joe Root’s resilient innings of 84, the visitors fell short as Ashwin once again proved to be a thorn in their side, claiming five wickets.

With a combined total of 413 runs from both innings, England’s efforts were in vain as India secured victory by an innings and 64 runs. This marked England’s first series loss under the captaincy of Ben Stokes, highlighting the challenges they faced against a dominant Indian side.
