The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced Mohammad Nawaz’s replacement for the limited-over series between Pakistan and Australia. The leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood will replace the all-rounder for the upcoming white-ball series.
Nawaz, who has been ruled out of the series sustained a foot injury during the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2022). He is yet to recover fully hence, will not be able to render his services during the historic Pakistan tour of Australia 2022.
The two teams will undergo a three-match ODI series followed by a one-off T20I. The three 50-over matches will be played on 29th March, 31st March, and 2nd April, whereas the T20I will be played on 5th April. The entire series was scheduled to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium but it has been shifted to Lahore’s Gadaffi Stadium following the poor political conditions in Islamabad.
The limited-over series squad will gather in Lahore’s hotel on 22nd March and will begin practice on 25th March. Meanwhile, Pakistan will take on Australia in the final Test on 21st March at Gadaffi. It must be noted the test series is still 0-0 with the Rawalpindi and Karachi Tests being drawn.
