PCB promises 'new cricket' in Multan

Ramiz Raja, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has predicted new and different cricket in Multan as the second test is all set to commence from December 9th. Unlike the batting-friendly conditions in Rawalpindi, Ramiz has claimed that conditions would be different at Multan Stadium for the second match.

Notably, we saw the visitors amassing 657 in the first inning with the courtesy of 506 on Day 1, and Pakistani bowlers barely managing four wickets. With the conditions slightly changing, the next day saw Pakistani bowlers picking all wickets on 657.

In reply, the Pakistani batters could amass 579, with England still having the lead. They continued to maintain the further lead and declared on 264 in their second inning. They put up a target of 343 runs, in response to which Pakistani batters collapsed on 268 in the concluding inning, letting England win by 74 runs.

Seeking the results, Ramiz, too, was surprised and uttered the pitch as disappointing, with no assistance for the bowlers. To comfort the fans, he claimed equal help to the batters and the bowlers at Multan Stadium in the second test.

Ramiz’s statements came during the dinner ceremony hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the England and Pakistan Cricket Teams at the conclusion of the first test. During the ceremony, the PM also loaded Ramiz with praises.

His statement reads,

“Ramiz Raja has done a great job as PCB chairman. I was young in a government college, and his [Ramiz Raja] father was then Additional Commissioner Lahore, and he was a great fan of cricket. We used to get free cricket passes from him. That’s how we know each other”.
