In a landmark development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially inked an agreement with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to host the prestigious Champions Trophy in 2025. The signing ceremony, held in Dubai on Friday, saw the presence of key figures including PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and ICC General Counsel Jonathan Hall.

Emphasizing the paramount importance of security, the PCB underscores the need for robust measures to ensure the safety of visiting international teams during the tournament. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has pledged the cooperation of security agencies, affirming the commitment to successfully hosting the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

The event marks the highly anticipated return of the ICC Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus since 2017. Notably, Sri Lanka and West Indies, among Test-playing nations, missed out on this global tournament due to their performance in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Scheduled to feature eight participating teams adhering to the One Day International (ODI) format, the qualification process includes the top seven teams from the ICC ODI World Cup group stage and the host nation, Pakistan. Confirmed teams for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy include Pakistan (hosts), India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, England, and Bangladesh.

The eight-year gap between Champions Trophy editions adds to the significance of the upcoming tournament, setting the stage for a competitive and thrilling 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
