Imam ul Haq, Harry Brookes come across exciting records

Day 2 of the first Test match between Pakistan and England commences as Pakistani batters progress to chase whilst playing their first inning. The guests compiled a mammoth of 657 runs which saw hefty contributions from Zak Crawley’s, Ben Ducketts’s, Harry Brook’s and Ollie Pop’s centuries.

During England’s first inning, when Brook was up to big things, he played exciting over to Saud Shakeel, amassing 24 runs. The over became record-breaking for him as he became the first English batter to score the most runs of an over in Test cricket. The next day, continuing his inning, he smashed 27 runs to leg-break Zahid Mehmood and broke his own record of amassing the most runs from an over in Test cricket.

Overall, the record for most runs in an over in Test cricket is scored by West Indies’ Brian Lara, Australia’s George Bailey, and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, which is 28, and was scored on various occasions.

Brook compiled his 116-ball 153 innings as bowler Naseem Shah became a lucky charm to strike. Notably, Pakistani bowlers could not pick a handful of wickets on Day 1, which let four batters come up with centuries. However, on Day 2, they struck back to grab the leftover wickets for 657.

Pakistani batters, aiming to chase the target and develop some lead, are in action momentarily. While Abdullah Shafiq is going on 89, Imam ul Haq has gathered 88 runs at the time of writing. Standing in his 17th Test match, Imam also came across a record to score 1000 Test runs. He achieved the feat whilst playing the first delivery of the 18th over, which was bowled by Will Jacks.
