Kamran Akmal, the prime batter of Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is no more interlinked with the franchise. The shocking development came our way on Tuesday ahead of the 8th edition of the T20 league, tentatively beginning mid-February.
Despite being underperforming for the past two seasons, Akmal has been a vital cog for Zalmi. He has topped the run-charts of the PSL, having the most runs, while the record now belongs to his cousin, Babar Azam, an essential batter for Karachi Kings.
The veteran’s seven-year journey with the Yellow Army comes to an end as they have decided not to retain him for PSL 8 following his recent performances.
According to Kamran, the newly-appointed head coach Darren Sammy confirmed the news. While confirming through his YouTube channel, he revealed that he is now available to get picked by any franchise in the Player draft.
“I am not part of Peshawar Zalmi anymore. Head Coach Darren Sammy informed me that Peshawar Zalmi will not retain me for PSL 8. I will be available for selection in the draft of PSL 8 now, though. Let’s see which franchise picks me,”
Later, he thanked the franchise officials for having a great stint with them for seven years.
