LQ vs PZ: Shoaib Malik wins PSL 7 enclosure with super over win

The veteran cricketer Shoaib Malik has closed the seventh chapter of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2022) with a super over win versus Lahore Qalandars as the last league match took place on 21st February at Gadaffi Stadium. The extravaganza will now see the play-offs including Qualifier, Eliminator 1, and Eliminator 2 to be played on 23rd, 24th, and 25th February respectively, whereas, the final will take place on 27th January.

Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat first. But, they could not inspire much with the batting power adding 158 runs on losing seven scalps. Although the chase looked easy, Qalandars fell short of balls on exact 158 runs. The gap of a single run put the two teams to contest in a super over.

The Shaheen Shah Afridi’s side sent Harry Brook and Fakhar Zaman. The batters could set up a target of 6 runs against the pacer Wahab Riaz. Riaz’s team was assisted by Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Haris. Surprisingly, Malik alone took charge and smashed two back-to-back fours to the Qalandars’ skipper closing the PSL 7 league stage with a thrilling win.

It must be noted that the Qualifier round will take place on Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. Eliminator 1 will be played between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. It must be remarked the winner of Qualifier will straight get a ticket to the grand finale, whereas, the loser of this round will see the winner of Eliminator 1 in a new round; Eliminator 2. The one winning Eliminator 2, will contest with the champion of Qualifier in the HBL PSL 7 final on 27th February.
